#KenyaDecides: Orphaned and broke, 23 year old student becomes Kenya’s youngest MP (Member of Parliament) A 23-year-old student has been elected as a Member of Parliament in Kenya’s Igembe South constituency following Tuesday’s election beating political bigwigs who were in the race against him. John Paul Mwirigi vied as an independent candidate trounced rich political bigwigs including a former deputy governor. The third year university student ran his campaigns on a near nothing budget, only relying on a bicycle to transverse the wide constituency, and not even his opponents flashy cars could deter him from pursuing his ambition. Following his win, a jubilated Mwirigi said his first agenda would be to support agribusiness activities, promote entrepreneurship and nurture talents.
